Funeral and burial costs can be confusing, and decisions often have to be made quickly by family members in the midst of mourning. To protect your right to free, fair and accurate information, we periodically survey funeral homes and cemeteries in our area every and publish this information.

Events & ouTREACH
We host events all year long aimed at educating and building community. We learn how to talk about death, make advanced decisions about end-of-life care, options for burial, and work to ease the transition at the end of life. When you attend events, you will meet old friends and make new ones. Please join us!

We have created a library of resources for approaching end-of-life decisions and experiences. Here you will find our Quarterly Newsletter, a curated reading list, books for kids, pamphlets, videos, newsletters, and PowerPoint programs you can use for group presentations, and more.

Mark your calendars for June 26-29, 2025 at the Embassy Suites, Raleigh, NC. Watch for more information on Registration, speakers, breakout sessions, etc. This event is open to all interested parties. You do not need to be a member to attend.

Who We are
We are a non-profit organization of area residents dedicated to helping our neighbors make funeral arrangements that are dignified, meaningful and affordable.

The FCAVBR is a part of the national Funeral Consumers Alliance, a nationwide nonprofit organization with no attachment to the funeral industry, cemeteries, or any religious group.
Our sole purpose is to help you make informed end-of-life decisions.
Our chapter serves residents in the counties of Montgomery, Roanoke, Giles, Floyd, and Pulaski; and in the cities of Roanoke, Salem, Bedford, and Radford.
