We are the Funeral Consumers Alliance of the Virginia Blue Ridge (FCAVBR), a non-profit 501(c)3 organization founded in 2001. We are a local affiliate of the Funeral Consumers Alliance, a national non-profit 501(c)3 organization. Our contact information:

What personal data do we collect and why?
Your personal information will be collected by this website if you submit a digital Membership Form to join the FCAVBR. During form submission, we capture the IP address for spam protection. We also capture your email address and the other personal information collected on the form so that we can communicate with you as a member. Additional information is collected as described below.
Media
If you share images with us to post to the website, know that these may include embedded location data (EXIF GPS) inherent to your photography device. We make a practice of removing this data before posting photos to the website. However, in an all-volunteer organization, this cannot be guaranteed. To protect your privacy, please remove embedded location data before sharing images with us.

Who we share your data with
If you submit a Membership Form, the information entered on the form will be submitted to this website. Your information will be used by the Funeral Consumers Alliance of the Virginia Blue Ridge to welcome you as a new member, to send you our quarterly newsletter, and to fulfill our agreements with you as a member. This information will be shared with our volunteer board and staff. However, we will not share or sell your information to any third parties outside of our organization. We are not affiliated with the funeral industry and are dedicated to protecting your rights and privacy.

Our forms use Google reCAPTCHA for spam protection and all form submissions are scanned by Google reCAPTCHA. View their Privacy Policy.
How long we retain your data
If you submit a Membership Form, the information and its metadata are retained indefinitely.
What rights you have over your data
If you have submitted a form, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You may also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data that we are obligated to keep for administrative and legal purposes, nor as proscribed by law.

This website uses Google Analytics in order to improve our outreach and advocacy. We want to understand who uses our website and how to improve the information we provide. We want to be able to demonstrate through the analytics data the usefulness of the information we provide to protect your right to free, fair, and accurate information about the funeral industry.
